CASE STUDY 3.

  • Close up of water slowly coming out of a tap and into the bath. Then cuts to Rihanna undressing which is also a close up and cuts between each of these scenes until it shows her getting into the bath. The camera then slowly pans up towards her whilst she is still in the bath and she is looking down then the song begins. Cuts to an extreme close up of her face as she sings the next lyrics The camera then cuts to different places around her face which is still an extreme close up shot.It then Cuts to a mid close up it shows her crawled up in a ball in the bath singing, it then cuts to close ups of her face coming in from two different angles. The video is very slow and everything seems to be slowed down slightly. In the second verse a white male is shown behind and leaning over very briefly but then cuts to a close up of Rihanna looking upset in the bath. There is then another birds eye view it shows her laying on her stomach in the filled up bath as she continues to sing. The white male which was previously shown is now seen singing and leaning over an empty bath. His wearing a white top and black jeans. His face is unrecognizable as the lighting is very dark making him come across as a very mysterious character and oblivious to the audience. It then quickly cuts a a close up of his face where you can actually see his face and he is still singing. It then cuts to him leaning over the sink looking into a mirror and then quickly cuts to Rihanna in the the bath again, moving around singing along with the male. There is then a close up of Rihanna's face which is then followed by the white male sitting with his hands held together.Overall the concept of the music video is very basic but is still effective and is able to paint out a story. It is clear that the two characters are both very distressed about a current or previous relationship they are in and recapping on it and showing signs that they want this person back in there life even though they don't make them happy.
